Please Read Everything.

I am brokering this guitar for a local 93 year old man who bought this guitar new in 1954 from G&M Music here in Winchester. We will sell this guitar.

Description and Details

I will start with the unfortunate details first. The bridge pickup was replaced in 1984 by G&M Music and the original is gone. The replacement is a P.O.S.. The 2 remaining original pickups measure very weak and there is only weak sound from the neck pickup and no sound from the middle. This is unfortunate but the good news...

The neck and body are original finish. The body has a place in the lower horn that is almost completely worn thru and is shown in several pics. I questioned the owner if someone ever tried to touch up the finish in that area and he says no. I want to believe him but I am not ruling out a touch up was tried 25 years ago and was stopped. The faces front and back, around the sides are no question original. The finish on the neck is 100% showing only the most minor wear spots. The neck is absolutely straight and the original frets are excellent to mint. All the hardware is 100% original and mint condition, the best I have ever seen. The plastic is also 100% and mint condition. This guitar has what is know as the 3rd generation plastic. All switches and pots are original and date to 1954. All controls work well with the bridge pickup. The case is also in excellent to mint condition. The leather end caps are near perfection and only minor discoloration has ocurred to the tweed. The case contains the original strap. Please look at the pics carefully and read my comments.

The bottom line on this guitar is that it was cared for by a conscientious owner. The Deluxe Amp is even more impressive in terms of care and speaks also about the care given to this instrument.

We will take sealed bid offers for the guitar until September 26, 2010. At that time the top 5 offers will be given 1 last chance to increase their bid. You will only be told your rank and not what the other bidders have bid. The highest offer after that will be taken to the owner for approval. The owner wants to sell so any good offer will be accepted. But do not waste our time. The offer must be a minimum of 5 figures and first figure at least a 2. If you want to see the instrument, you must have placed an offer within the top 8 and make an appointment to see it. If you just show up at our facility, you will be sent away. Your offer is a binding contract. We will tell you if your offer falls out of the top 5 or 8. My advice is to make your best offer and let the chips fall where they may. All offers must be made in writing by e-mail us or letter post. Please include all your contact information including phone numbers so we can verify the offer. The HIGH BIDDER will have a 48 hr approval of the guitar but you will have to cover all shipping cost, forward and back.

Shipping cost is NOT covered by your bid so keep that in mind. We can ship anywhere in the world and the package will have to be insured. DO NOT ASK US TO QUOTE shipping charges. The top 5 bidders will be told the shipping cost to them before they make their final bid. Quite frankly if you have to ask about the shipping cost you shouldn't be making an offer.

This amp is the cleanest I have seen in person. It is 99.9% original and in 100% working, playing condition. There is only one small stain on the back that is shown in the pics. Yes I know the handle is replaced. But original or reissue handles are easy to get. Please look at the pics and read any comments.
